Muscadet Sèvre et Maine from the Vinet family's 55 hectares of Melon de Bourgogne at La Haye-Fouassière.
Domaines Vinet farms 55 hectares in La Haye-Fouassière and Château-Thébaud, south-east of Nantes, and grows only Melon de Bourgogne. Château-Thébaud is one of the crus communaux of Muscadet Sèvre et Maine, the appellation's top tier.
The vines grow on schist, micaschist, amphibolite, gneiss and orthogneiss, under an oceanic climate. Farming is certified HVE and Terra Vitis, and each plot is worked to suit its soil.
The family estate was founded in 1948. Gérard Vinet took over from his father in 1980 and now runs it with Laurence Vinet.
The Vinets harvest, vinify, bottle and sell all their wines themselves. About 90% of sales are export, from the United States to Japan.
