2024 Onkaparinga Sangiovese
It’s so great to be able to work with grapes that are as loved and meticulously farmed as these twenty-seven year old vines from the boniest and highest section of the Turnbull Family Vineyard in Charleston. This is the second rendition of this wine and its a ripper. Some more meatiness and red fruit than the cool and late 2023 vintage, but still showing plenty of delicate aromatics, spiciness and tannins. Its such a great variety for the region and we hope to see more of it going into the ground and mouths in the future.

Winemaking
Vinification
100% destemmed open top fermentation for three weeks before closing the lid and sealing for three more months. We only use the free run, which is aged in a mixture of terracotta and French oak barrels for 10 months, one of these being new, before being blended and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Tasting Notes
Medium ruby. Delicate aromatics of red cherry, rose and dried herbs, with a savoury, meaty edge and a hint of spice. The palate shows red fruit and more flesh than the cooler 2023, framed by firm, grippy tannins and bright acidity. Long and savoury, built for the table.
