Nathan Brown's Canberra region wines from grower vineyards in Tumbarumba, the Hilltops and Gundagai, made with wild ferments.
Linear draws on grower vineyards across the Canberra District, Tumbarumba, the Hilltops and Gundagai. In Tumbarumba, Coppabella and Courabyra sit between 550 and 730 m, on decomposed granite at Courabyra and red granite soils at Wondalma.
In the Hilltops, the Hudson and Moppity vineyards near Young sit at 560 to 600 m, with warm days and cool nights through ripening. Sangiovese comes from Tumblong Hills in Gundagai, about 160 km south-west of Canberra, on red volcanic soils rich in ironstone.
Nathan Brown founded Linear in 2018 as an independent producer in the Canberra region. He works closely with growers to find distinctive sites and parcels, and lets the fruit, the site and the season guide each decision.
The name describes the aim: finding a line through vineyard, weather and timing, so that site, season and winemaking come into alignment.
