2024 Father's Milk
Ochota Barrels x Gentle Folk
Gamay- Pinot noir
No changes in the make up of the 2024 wine with another tiny harvest in the Adelaide Hills. These two vineyards are the last harvested at both wineries from the Piccadilly Valley, and it seemed most appropriate to combine what we picked and have a nice family lunch. Whole bunches, neutral oak and a cool vintage resulted in a wine with a spice, amaro, soft red fruit and life energy pairing beautifully with food on the table and family by your side.
- Gamay from Virgara, Piccadilly, and Pinot Noir from Monomeith, Ashton, at 520 to 530 m on quartz over sandstone.
- Made with Gentle Folk: 100% whole bunch, foot-stomped for two weeks, basket pressed to neutral barrels.
- Spice, amaro and soft red fruit at 13.5% after 13 months in oak; just 880 bottles.

Winemaking
Vinification
Over a very long lunch, 100% whole bunches were tipped into an open top fermenter and foot-stomped by small children. After two weeks of tasting and daily foot-stomping, the wine was basket pressed to two neutral French oak barrels, followed by lunch. The wine was in oak for 13 months before being bottled, followed by another great lunch. Just the way we always imagined it.
Tasting Notes
Gamay and Pinot Noir, all whole bunch. Soft red fruit, sour cherry and spice on the nose, with an amaro like herbal edge. The palate is light, juicy and lively, with fine tannins from neutral oak and fresh acidity from a cool year. Savoury and bright, built for the table.
