2023 Anjou Rivière Sauvage
The Rivière Sauvage cuvée was born only in 2018, and is today the rare gem of Domaine Sauveroy, the one that lovers of great Chenin, at once powerful, vibrant and full of nuance, snap up! A unique wine that owes nothing to chance. While the subsoil of metamorphic rock gives the wine a superb mineral, refreshing and saline backbone, the more sandstone-rich schist soil and its mid-slope exposure give extra breadth and depth. The final aim of ageing in amphorae does not change: to find the most perfect harmony between the wine's natural density, its mineral tension and the expression of the essential energy that the grape, at its optimum ripeness, has drawn from its surroundings.

Tasting Notes
The colour is a superb gold. The nose, fine and expressive, opens on white flowers, then the fruit unfolds, fresh and juicy, as if just picked and sliced: pear, apple, apricot and passionfruit come to mind. A few citrus notes slip into this fine aromatic picture. While the palate recalls lovely white-fleshed fruit, there is also a floral, delicately honeyed dimension. The mid-palate, especially broad, sparkles with fine mineral and saline notes. The wine offers very good length on the finish.
