2022 Goldtröpfchen Grosses Gewächs
The VDP.Grosses Gewächs is the dry peak of our portfolio. Our 8 Grosse Lagen on the Middle Mosel produce unique wines with expressive character and particular ageing potential. Fully ripe, healthy grapes are carefully harvested by hand in many separate selections. The Grosse Gewächse have great drive, complexity and body, and particularly long ageing potential.
In the long bend of the Mosel, with sun from the south-east round to the west, the Goldtröpfchen site rises like a mighty amphitheatre. The steep slopes, of up to 70% gradient, have dark, heavily weathered Devonian slate, which makes for living soils with lots of energy. The wines often show racy freshness, a cooler style with fine, present acidity and saltiness. Goldtröpfchen is an exceptionally exciting site with great expressive power and enormously high ageing potential.

Tasting Notes
Pale gold. The nose shows citrus, yellow apple and fresh herbs with flint and a peppery edge. The palate is cool and racy, with fine, present acidity, a salty tang and good density behind. Dry, precise and long, with plenty of energy for ageing. Drink 2026 to 2038.
