2022 Niederberg Helden Grosses Gewächs
The VDP.Grosses Gewächs is the dry peak of our portfolio. Our 8 Grosse Lagen on the Middle Mosel produce unique wines with expressive character and particular ageing potential. Fully ripe, healthy grapes are carefully harvested by hand in many separate selections. The Grosse Gewächse have great drive, complexity and body, and particularly long ageing potential.
100% blue slate, ungrafted vines up to 120 years old and slopes of up to 80%, that is what the Niederberg Helden site stands for. Long forgotten, it has for several years been regarded as one of the most interesting and multi-faceted sites on the Mosel, producing top Rieslings year after year. It yields unique wines with expressive character and particular ageing potential. Close-to-nature work in the vineyards and spontaneous fermentation of the wines have always been our hallmark and reflect our respect for nature.

Tasting Notes
Pale gold. The nose is complex, with lemon, white peach, herbal tea and a smoky, flinty edge. The palate is dense and substantial yet elegant, with a creamy core, savoury mineral grip and vibrant acidity. Dry, driving and very long, it rewards time in the cellar. Drink 2026 to 2040.
