Patrick Sullivan's playful blends and skin contact wines, from growers in the Alpine Valleys, Murray Darling and Riverland.
Jumping Juice buys fruit from growers rather than farming one site. The Pet Nat and Haggis come from the Alpine Valleys. The Haggis parcel sits in the Buckland Valley below Mount Buffalo, on clay loam with high rainfall of about 1200 mm.
The Orange comes from Merbein in the Murray Darling, on sandy soils over limestone, with warm days and clear nights. The Half Full Grenache grows on a clifftop above the Murray in the Riverland, on ferrous sandy loam over a limestone subsoil.
Jumping Juice began with Patrick Sullivan and Xavier Goodridge, who met at 18 and later worked together in London. The Half Full red came first, in 2010, after years of travelling through Europe.
Patrick now makes the range at Laffers Lane in Gippsland. It runs from a pet nat and a skin contact Orange to the partial carbonic Haggis and the Half Full red.
Patrick and Megan McLaren make the range together and think of themselves as vineyard people before winemakers, with the exchange between winemaker and grower at the heart of it. Above all, Jumping Juice is meant to be delicious and to bring people together.
